This review is way over due. I took a trip to Keewaydin Island on this family owned and operated water shuttle back in October 24' and it was worth the price! When I made the reservation online I had questions and luckily they answered their phone and they were happy to help. You see I'm wasn't interested in shelling and primarily that's what Hemingway advertises on their website. I just wanted to go to Keewaydin Island and of course I don't own a boat and needed justification for spending my money on Hemingway. After talking to one of the owners I was convinced that it was worth not only my money but my time as well. The shuttle takes you to Keewaydin Island mainly for shelling as I stated above but it's not a requirement. You can go spend the day at the beach exploring the island or lay out and get a tan. At Keewaydin Island there was a separate boat that sold drinks and snacks. Look, you may not want to spend the money because shelling isn't your thing but your wrong and I was wrong as I brought back tons of shells as proof. The owners where a lovely couple and very knowledgeable about the island as well as the surrounding areas. Plus, the jellyfish are bigger than your head. Keewaydin Island is a separate paradise in a state full of gorgeous beaches! It felt like a mini vacation.

I am extremely disappointed with our experience on the Hemingway Water Shuttle to Keewaydin Island. My husband and I took the day off work to bring friends visiting from New York, including their 3-year-old daughter, to experience the beautiful island and beach. Unfortunately, the trip got off to a terrible start. While boarding, I noticed there was a large dog on the boat. Although the company features the dog on its website, nowhere during the ticket purchasing process does it clearly state that the dog will be on board during trips or that it is not kept on a leash. Since my friends’ young daughter is afraid of large dogs, I politely asked if the dog would be on a leash. Without any hesitation, I was told, in a very rude and disrespectful tone, “You can get off the boat and we’ll give you your money back.” That was the first response I received instead of any attempt to understand our concern or accommodate us. Shortly afterward, another staff member announced to everyone on the boat that if anyone had a problem with dogs, they could get off now. At that point, we felt trapped. We had planned this outing, taken time off work, and didn’t want our friends to miss the opportunity to visit Keewaydin Island. We decided to stay, but the way we were treated was completely unacceptable. This review is not about whether a business has a dog. It’s about transparency and customer service. If a large, unleashed dog is part of every shuttle trip, that information should be clearly disclosed before customers purchase tickets so families with young children, people with allergies, or those who are afraid of dogs can make an informed decision. The lack of communication is disappointing, but the rude and dismissive attitude we experienced was even worse. A little kindness and professionalism would have gone a long way.

What an amazing day we had today taking the Hemingway Water Shuttle to Keeywadin! The crew was really, including Captain Jack. They stopped and let us spend a good amount of time with the dolphins, answered all the questions and were super educators on the wildlife and area. Incredibly friendly, super experience from checking to docking back at the marina. The Marina has a really nice air conditioned area to shower and get ready for your next adventure. Highly recommend!

Had the most wonderful experience today with the Hemingway Shuttles. We were a family of 9 heading to the island to collect shells. Right from the start, everyone working there was so pleasant and lovely. We had a wagon and extra chairs, and everything rolled right onto the boat with no problem. Matt and Alison were fantastic! We went from 8:00–12:00, and it was the perfect amount of time. We brought our own lunch, snacks, and shell bags, and had such a lovely time collecting shells. The best part of all was that we saw tons of dolphins! Matt would slow down for us so we could see them and take pictures and videos. Just a few things to note: there are no bathrooms on the island, so you need to plan accordingly. You also have to bring your own garbage bag and take all of your garbage back with you.

Our family had a great time this past Tuesday. Saw some dolphins and learned a little bit about the local area. We took an early trip. We got to the island around 8 and there was hardly anyone there. We left at 11 and by that time it was starting to get crowded. My daughter counted 33 boats. Very friendly hosts and a good value for a few hours of family fun. Will definitely do that one again.
