After almost two years to recover and process my experience, I feel obligated to leave this review as a warning for anyone considering lipo, Renuvion, or fat transfer breast surgery at Exert Clinic. I underwent surgery on July 3, 2024, and the results have left me with permanent scars and painful lumps in my breasts caused by fat necrosis after the fat transfer procedure. Despite reaching out multiple times after surgery for help and guidance, I received very little support. Dr. Giselle drained one area post-operatively, but beyond that, the clinic offered no meaningful solutions for the permanent lumps, scarring, or cosmetic damage. Before surgery, communication with the clinic took place on June 5th, where I specifically expressed concerns to Rachel about pain management and sedation. I explained that people with fair skin and red hair statistically often require higher doses of sedatives or additional time for medication to take effect. I was reassured multiple times that the staff would make me “very comfortable.” That was not my experience at all. I followed instructions exactly and took the prescribed lorazepam one hour before surgery. After my photos, I was given two additional pills and immediately brought into the procedure room without enough time for the medication to work. During surgery, I felt clamps, cuts, and rods aggressively tearing and pulling through my body. I repeatedly cried out that I was in severe pain and begged them to stop because the medication was not working. The only responses I received were to “relax” and “use the laughing gas.” The nitrous oxide did not seem to help at all, and I repeatedly asked if it was even turned on because I felt no relief whatsoever. I was eventually given another pill, but by then the procedure was already underway. The pain became so overwhelming that my body went into shock and began violently shaking. I was crying, trembling, and trying to get the staff’s attention because I genuinely needed help. Instead of stopping, I felt the procedure became rushed once my body started reacting. I specifically remember the Renuvion portion and the fat transfer to my breasts being done extremely quickly while I was still shaking uncontrollably. It was only after I was placed into the wheelchair after surgery that the medication finally began to sedate me. To this day, I feel that my concerns and pain were ignored during the procedure, and I believe the final outcome was negatively impacted because my body was in shock. I was left with permanent marks on my breasts that resemble dark bruises or hickeys, hard lumps from fat necrosis, and ultimately no meaningful improvement in breast size despite enduring this traumatic experience. I am sharing this because I wish someone had warned me beforehand. Patients deserve to be heard, properly sedated, and treated with compassion when they say they are in pain.
I had my procedure 8 weeks ago and could not be happier with my results. Dr Giselle did an amazing job. Both she and all of her staff have been attentive to any needs I had both before and after my procedure.
